Mount Vernon ISD Superintendent Jason McCullough announced with deep sadness that David Reeve, a junior at Mount Vernon High School, passed away after being struck by a vehicle. David was rollerblading on US 271, about a mile north of Mount Pleasant, when he was hit. State Troopers say the driver called 911 and is not facing charges. David was transported to a local hospital where he died.
David was a cherished member of the school’s Audio Visual team and took pride in producing Friday night broadcasts for the Mighty Tiger football games.
In response to the loss, Mount Vernon ISD has activated its Crisis Intervention Team and will provide additional counselors to support students and staff. Superintendent McCullough expressed condolences and asked the community to support David’s family during this difficult time.
