Larry Buckley, a 44-year-old convicted felon from Jasper, Texas, was sentenced to 262 months (21 years, 10 months) in federal prison on November 6, 2024, after pleading guilty to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine and being a felon in possession of a firearm. U.S. District Judge Marcia A. Crone handed down the sentence.
Court records show that Buckley was identified in October 2022 as a primary supplier for a drug trafficking organization operating in Jasper, Lufkin, and Sabine Parish, Louisiana. A joint federal, state, and local investigation revealed Buckley had been distributing large quantities of methamphetamine to multiple individuals and was selling firearms. His previous felony convictions include organized criminal activity, controlled substance manufacture and delivery, unlawful firearm possession, and burglary.
As part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a Department of Justice program aimed at reducing violent crime, the case was investigated by the FBI, ATF, Texas DPS, and the Sabine Parish Sheriff’s Office. It was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Donald S. Carter.
