CHRISTUS Health has officially opened a new, permanent location for the Heart and Vascular Institute in Sulphur Springs. Situated at 113 Airport Road inside the CHRISTUS Trinity Clinic Medical Plaza on the campus of CHRISTUS Mother Frances Hospital, the new facility replaces the previous temporary clinic on Medical Circle.
Paul Harvey, president of CHRISTUS Mother Frances Hospital – Sulphur Springs, emphasized the importance of local access to care, stating, “We know that patients do not want to travel for care – it is something we have heard for years. This clinic allows us to be a hub for heart care, so that world-class care is now available close to home.”
The newly renovated clinic includes eight patient exam rooms and three provider practice rooms, along with access to the hospital’s catheterization laboratory (cath lab), where doctors can perform essential procedures and tests for cardiovascular conditions.
Nikki Collins, a family nurse practitioner and Sulphur Springs native, highlighted the significance of high-quality cardiac care for community health, saying, “It all starts with the heart. If you do not have a healthy heart, it all rolls downhill. We have a patient population here that is really going to benefit from this type of care, right in their own community.”
Patients at the Heart and Vascular Institute will also be integrated into the broader CHRISTUS cardiovascular care network, enabling instant access to patient records across all CHRISTUS facilities.
Dr. Clyde Sanford III, chair of the Heart and Vascular Center, added, “Everything we are doing here is with the idea that patients do not have to leave here. We want to be your one-stop shop for cardiovascular care in the region.”
To schedule an appointment, patients can call (903) 438-8330.
