On November 2, 2024, Melissa Police apprehended Jose Rodriguez, a suspect wanted on multiple charges, following a high-speed vehicle pursuit across multiple jurisdictions.
The chase began when a vehicle linked to Rodriguez was detected on Fannin Road in Melissa using License Plate Reader (LPR) technology recently installed by Melissa PD. Officers from Melissa PD and Celina PD attempted to intercept the vehicle, initiating a pursuit that involved multiple law enforcement agencies.
During the pursuit, Rodriguez threw cash from his vehicle and made video calls in attempts to evade capture. The pursuit briefly crossed into Oklahoma, where local officers disengaged, but resumed in Texas. Authorities from Grayson and Collin counties ultimately stopped the vehicle with spike strips, leading to Rodriguez’s arrest.
Cash and allegedly stolen property were found in the vehicle. Rodriguez faces multiple charges related to the pursuit and outstanding warrants. Melissa Police expressed gratitude for the cooperation of alert citizens and supporting agencies, and the investigation remains ongoing.
