Commerce ISD Superintendent Charlie Alderman has formally announced his retirement from education, effective in the coming months. In a letter to the community, Alderman described the decision as difficult but expressed his excitement for the next chapter of his life.
Alderman highlighted the strong position of Commerce ISD, noting its academic and fiscal health, exceptional programs, and well-prepared facilities for future growth. He credited the success of the district over the past decade to the dedication of its teachers, administrators, and staff, stating, "Their dedication to the students of Commerce has made it a privilege to work with them."
He also expressed gratitude for the support of the School Board, acknowledging their commitment to putting students first in every decision.
Despite his upcoming retirement, Alderman emphasized the importance of continuing critical work in the weeks ahead and indicated he would assist in the search for his successor.
In a statement, Commerce ISD praised Alderman's leadership: "For the past 10 years, he’s led Commerce ISD with vision, dedication, and a true passion for our Tigers. We are beyond proud to have had him at the helm, guiding our students, staff, and schools to new heights."
