Paris ISD Superintendent Althea Dixon has introduced an innovative initiative designed to promote direct communication between students and district leadership. The Paris Promise - Superintendent’s Student Advisory Committee (SSAC) consists of secondary school students who will meet with Mrs. Dixon approximately six times throughout the school year.
Mrs. Dixon stated, “I created this student advisory group because I am interested in having the opportunity to hear the perspective of Paris ISD students on various topics. I hope that, during these meetings, the students, myself, and other school district administrators will have positive discussions about student concerns and essential issues facing our schools and district.”
The students selected for the Paris Promise team were recommended by administrators from Paris Junior High and Paris High School. These chosen students will participate in informal lunchtime meetings with Mrs. Dixon, fostering a relaxed yet productive environment for discussion. The inaugural meeting of the SSAC was recently held at Paris High School during lunch, marking the official launch of this initiative. This initial gathering aimed to introduce the members to one another and to set the foundation for the committee’s activities in the 2024-2025 school year.
By establishing the Paris Promise - Superintendent’s Student Advisory Committee, Superintendent Althea Dixon is taking significant steps toward involving students in decision-making processes that affect their educational experiences.
