The Texarkana Police Department is investigating a crash that occurred shortly after 8:00 PM on Monday, October 28th. A 69-year-old man, pushing a shopping cart, attempted to cross Robison Road and walked directly into the path of a southbound 2014 Chevrolet Cruz.
The driver, a 30-year-old male, was able to stop his vehicle quickly after the collision; however, the pedestrian became trapped under the vehicle. Firefighters from the Texarkana Texas Fire Department responded promptly and used a jack to lift the car off the man. He was then transported to a local hospital before being airlifted to UAMS, where he is currently listed in serious condition.
Preliminary investigations indicate that there was nothing the driver could have done to avoid the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.
