On the morning of October 25, 2023, officers from the Marshall Police Department arrested 45-year-old Benjamin Dale Hawkins, Jr., on multiple charges following reports of suspicious activity involving stolen property. Hawkins faces several charges, including Possessing Dangerous Drugs, Credit/Debit Card Abuse, Burglary of Vehicles, and Theft of Materials (Aluminum/Bronze/Copper/Brass valued under $20,000).
At approximately 8:53 a.m., police responded to a call from a business located in the 300 block of Pinecrest Drive, where employees reported a man acting suspiciously. Upon arrival, officers discovered items that matched descriptions of recently reported stolen property concealed on Hawkins.
After identifying Hawkins, officers located him on the street and approached him for questioning. During the encounter, they found prescription medication bottles that were not in his name, along with multiple credit cards belonging to other individuals.
“This is a great example of our officers’ commitment to thorough investigations,” said Marshall Police Chief Cliff Carruth. “The cooperation from our community in addressing these thefts and burglaries is essential to protecting property and keeping our town safe.”
The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges may be filed. The Marshall Police Department encourages anyone with further information to contact them at 903-935-4575.
