In the early hours of Sunday, October 27, at 12:34 AM, Paris Police officers responded to a disturbance call in the 500 block of Deshong Drive. A caller reported, "He is choking me," prompting an immediate police response.
Upon arrival, officers found the suspect, Austin Deon Griffith, 31, attempting to leave the apartment. He was detained and placed in a patrol car for questioning. According to the victim, Griffith had grabbed her by the neck and squeezed, restricting her breathing. A witness intervened, preventing further harm.
Griffith was subsequently booked into the Paris Jail on charges of felony assault against a family or household member and impeding breath or circulation.
