On Thursday, October 24th, the Texarkana Police Department responded to a shooting reported around 2:15 AM in the 1500 block of Milam Street. While officers were en route to investigate reports of gunfire, another 911 call indicated that a victim was lying in front of an apartment in the area.
The 17-year-old victim had sustained multiple gunshot wounds, prompting officers to begin lifesaving measures at the scene. He was transported to Wadley Regional Hospital before being transferred to Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock for further treatment.
By 12:10 PM on the same day, the Texarkana Police announced the arrest of a 15-year-old juvenile in connection with the shooting. The juvenile was charged with aggravated assault and taken to the Juvenile Detention Center.
On October 25th, authorities confirmed a second arrest related to the incident. Seventeen-year-old Johnathan Henderson was apprehended and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He was booked into the Bi-State Jail, with his bond set at $500,000. Henderson had a prior arrest on September 23rd for vehicle theft and had been released on October 7th. The investigation remains ongoing.
UPDATE: The victim, who was shot several times, was transferred to Arkansas Children's Hospital and his condition is stable at this time.
