On October 19, 2024, the Marion County Sheriff's Office contacted Harrison County regarding a vehicle pursuit entering Karnack on Highway 43. Deputies from Harrison County joined the chase, but Marion County ultimately terminated their pursuit due to the driver's dangerous speed, exceeding 120 mph and posing a risk to public safety.
Harrison County deputies decided to end their involvement in the chase as well, but they maintained visual contact with the vehicle while other deputies set up ahead to intercept. The vehicle was successfully stopped without incident, and the driver, identified as 21-year-old Jayden Kai Fitzpatrick of Marshall, was taken into custody.
Fitzpatrick was charged with Reckless Driving, with a bond set at $1,500.
