In the early hours of Thursday, October 17, 2024, Rockwall Police responded to a 911 call reporting an unresponsive male in the parking lot of a business in the 2100 Block of Summer Lee Drive at approximately 1:00 AM. Upon arrival, officers and Emergency Medical Services discovered a male who had sustained gunshot wounds. The victim's truck was determined to have been stolen.
The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The Rockwall PD Criminal Investigation Division quickly secured the area and launched an investigation into the incident.
Later that morning, the victim's stolen vehicle was recovered in a nearby city. Subsequent inquiries led investigators to identify a suspect vehicle linked to the crime, which was located in a neighboring county. This development resulted in the identification and contact of two persons of interest.
The deceased has been identified as 34-year-old Jean Carlos Iraheta. The arrested individuals, 32-year-old Abygail Chaparro and 29-year-old Terry Lacy, have both been charged with Capital Murder and are scheduled to be transferred to the Rockwall County Detention Center later today.
The Rockwall Police Department expressed gratitude to local, state, and federal agencies that assisted in the investigation, facilitating the swift apprehension of the suspects. Collaborating agencies include the Dallas Police Department, Rockwall County Sheriff's Office, Palo Pinto Sheriff's Office, Texas Department of Public Safety, Texas Rangers, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
