On Friday, September 27, 2024, at approximately 12:19 PM, Nacogdoches Police officers responded to a call regarding a suicidal woman at the 400 block of W. Austin St. Officer Seth Stover was the first to arrive on scene, finding the distraught woman threatening to jump from a bridge. Officer Stover began speaking with her in an attempt to de-escalate the situation, while Officer Chris Snider soon arrived to assist.
As the woman grew increasingly agitated and appeared ready to jump, both officers acted quickly, putting their own safety at risk. Together, they grabbed the woman and pulled her back over the guardrail to safety.
The Nacogdoches Police Department commended Officers Stover and Snider for their courageous actions, crediting their quick response and selflessness with saving the woman's life during a mental health crisis. The department continues to emphasize the importance of mental health support and crisis intervention.
