Five people died in a tragic two-vehicle crash near Randolph in Fannin County on Monday evening. This incident marks the second time this month that a crash has claimed five lives in the county, with the previous fatality occurring on October 2nd on State Highway 56.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the accident happened around 6:45 p.m. on State Highway 121 near County Road 4165, approximately 6 miles south of Bonham. No further details regarding the crash or the individuals involved have been released at this time.
UPDATE: DPS has released the names of the victims in this crash. The car driven by Ernestina Castillo-Alfaro, 30, of Bonham, was traveling eastbound on SH-56 at an unsafe speed, lost control, and hit oncoming traffic. The four passengers in the vehicle were Rosa Trochez-Montenegro, 26, Oneyda Zamora, 28, Jose Urbina, 23, and Nestor Gonzalez-Valerio, 57. All five were pronounced dead at the scene. The two individuals in the other vehicle were identified as David Strong, 48, of Robinson, Texas, and Craig Moody, 62. Both were taken to TMC Hospital in critical condition.
