On Monday, October 14, 2024, Paris Police responded to a report of a disturbance in the 200 block of SW 19th Street. Upon arrival, officers encountered Octavious Jamal Ewing, 23, engaged in an altercation with a family member.
Ewing fled the scene on foot as officers attempted to intervene. One officer pursued Ewing, informing him that he was being detained and instructed him to stop running. Despite these commands, Ewing continued to evade capture until he was eventually apprehended and placed into custody.
The victim, identified as a family member of Ewing, reported that during the altercation, Ewing had pushed her down while attempting to take her phone to prevent her from calling 911.
Ewing has been charged with Evading Arrest (habitual), Assault of a Family Member, and Interference with an Emergency Phone Call.
