The Temple Police Department is investigating a shooting that resulted in the death of one individual on Wednesday, October 9, around 7:20 PM. Officers were dispatched to the 700 block of Luna Lane following reports of gunfire.
Upon arrival, officers found a male with multiple gunshot wounds. The homeowner informed officers that an individual had entered his yard, prompting him to shoot the intruder multiple times.
The victim was transported to a local hospital in critical condition but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. Justice of the Peace Larry Wilkey declared the time of death at 7:55 PM and has ordered an autopsy to be performed by the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences.
As of now, no other injuries have been reported, and authorities have stated there is no ongoing threat to the public. This case remains under investigation.
