Domestic Disturbance in Cumby Leads to Arrests for Assault and Intoxication

Lindsay Knutson and Manuel Zamora

On October 6, 2024, Deputy Godwin of the Hopkins County Sheriff's Office was on patrol in Cumby, searching for a vehicle reported for reckless driving and noted to be missing a tire. During his patrol near Frisco Street, he encountered a female, identified as Lindsay Willene Knutson, walking north and appearing to be in distress.

Recognizing her from a previous service call earlier that day, Deputy Godwin approached her and detected a strong smell of alcohol on her breath, along with bloodshot eyes. Given her distress and the circumstances, he detained her for further investigation. Deputy Shelton was also attending to another party involved in the incident, following tire marks from the gas station where the altercation had occurred.

Cpl. Steward arrived to assist and successfully engaged Knutson in conversation. She recounted being in a vehicle with Manuel Anthony Zamora when a tire went flat, which led to an escalation of anger from Zamora. Knutson described a confrontation at a gas station where Zamora allegedly pushed her against the door and forcefully ejected her from the vehicle, causing scrapes on her right arm.

Deputy Godwin contacted the store clerk to obtain video footage of the incident. Upon reviewing the footage, it confirmed that a physical altercation had occurred and that Knutson had been consuming alcohol. She was subsequently arrested for Assault Family Violence and Public Intoxication and transported to the Hopkins County Jail.

Based on the video evidence, Deputy Shelton was advised to arrest Zamora for Continuous Violence Against Family.
