On Saturday, October 5th, at 3:38 AM, a Lamar County Deputy alerted a Paris Officer patrolling the 3400 block of the Northwest Loop about a white truck speeding towards him at 90 mph in a posted 60 mph zone. The Paris Officer subsequently clocked the vehicle at 98 mph and initiated a traffic stop in the 3900 block of Bonham Street.
The driver, Ignacio Aranda, 20, from Weslaco, Texas, was found to have a fictitious Texas ID card. During questioning, he admitted to consuming six Ultra beers and two twisted teas 20 minutes prior to driving. Aranda failed the Standardized Field Sobriety Test and was arrested.
He was booked for several offenses, including Driving While Intoxicated, Failing to ID Fugitive Intent, Giving False Information, Felony Fraud, Use or Possession of Identifying Information, Reckless Driving, and Failing to Appear warrants out of New Mexico.
