At approximately 12:40 AM on October 5, 2024, Longview Police responded to a shooting in the 1300 block of Baylor Drive. Upon arrival, officers discovered 25-year-old Robert Rayson of Longview, who had died from his injuries.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the shooting occurred during an altercation inside the residence. After interviewing those present, officers arrested 19-year-old Deleontre Mitchell of Longview. Mitchell has been charged with Murder and was booked into the Gregg County Jail.
