On October 5, 2024, at approximately 5:30 AM, Forney Police responded to a single-vehicle accident on eastbound US Highway 80 near the Reeder Road exit. Upon arrival, officers discovered 19-year-old Briana Ramirez had sustained severe injuries in the crash. Ramirez was pronounced dead at the scene.
The male driver of the vehicle, who was unharmed, was arrested at the scene. He faces pending charges of Intoxication Manslaughter. Following the arrest, the driver was transported to the Forney Detention Facility, where he is awaiting arraignment.
In addition to the loss of life, the Reeder Road Bridge sustained significant damage in the crash. The Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT) is currently on-site, assessing the extent of the damage and determining necessary repairs.
