Two Arrested for Drug Possession Following Polk County RV Park Investigation

On October 1, 2024, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics and Criminal Investigation Divisions executed a targeted operation at the Longhorn Valley RV Park, following community tips about suspected narcotics activity. Investigators aimed to speak with the occupants of a recreational vehicle believed to be involved in selling and using drugs. However, despite multiple attempts to make contact, the individuals inside the RV did not respond.

While on the scene, law enforcement gathered enough probable cause to obtain a search warrant. Upon executing the warrant, investigators discovered illegal narcotics within the RV. This led to the arrest of two individuals: 34-year-old Whitney Vandiver, formerly of Coleman, TX, and 31-year-old Dawson Barnett, previously of Lott, TX.

Both Vandiver and Barnett have been charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance (methamphetamine) and Possession of Marijuana. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office continues to encourage community members to report any suspicious activities to enable prompt responses to these concerns.
