On Friday, October 4th, 2024, at approximately 12:30 PM, the Rockwall Police Department responded to a 911 call regarding an attempted abduction of a 10-year-old girl in the 1000 block of W. Yellow Jacket Lane. The child had just exited the bus and was walking home when witnesses reported seeing a male suspect grab her by her backpack. Fortunately, the girl managed to escape, prompting a witness to follow the suspect while officers were alerted.
Responding officers quickly located and detained the suspect, identified as 21-year-old Brian Douglas Calder of Rockwall. Following an investigation, Calder was transported to the Rockwall County Detention Center, where he was booked and charged with Attempted Kidnapping.
The incident remains under investigation by the Rockwall Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division.
