On September 9, 2024, George William Reschke, 47, of Kaufman was sentenced to 40 years in prison after pleading guilty to the manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance in a Wood County courtroom. Reschke was also ordered to pay a $1,500 fine.
Reschke's legal troubles began in January 2023 when a Wood County lieutenant stopped him for a traffic violation. The stop occurred after Reschke left a property known to law enforcement as a “drug house.” A K-9 unit alerted the officer to the presence of drugs in Reschke's vehicle, leading to the discovery of numerous baggies of methamphetamine and nearly $1,000 in cash.
Following his arrest, authorities executed a search warrant at the residence linked to Reschke, uncovering a substantial amount of methamphetamine. The total quantity seized from Reschke and the property amounted to approximately 2.2 pounds.
District Attorney Angela Albers commented, “The defendant is a long-time drug dealer who had every intention of distributing this dangerous substance with his co-defendant, Paula Box, into the Wood County community. This sentence sends a message that dealing drugs in Wood County will not be tolerated, and individuals like Mr. Reschke will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
