On Friday, September 13, 2024, an Angelina County court sentenced 57-year-old Paul Edmund-Derrick LaFleur of Zavalla, TX, to life in prison for child sexual abuse. He will never become eligible for parole.
LaFleur had been indicted by a grand jury back in 2017 on the charges of continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14, two counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child, indecency with a child by sexual contact, and producing, directing, and promoting a sexual performance by a child under 14.
LaFleur committed the crimes against an 8-year-old boy beginning in 2014, and two teenage boys between the years of 2016 and 2020. According to the affidavit, he also gave the teenagers weed prior to assaulting them, asking them if they’d prefer to get high before he began. He also gave them gifts such as candy, energy drinks, and video games.
LaFleur was also accused of renting a storage unit to take the boys to before assaulting them. He also took inappropriate pictures of one of the boys while on a fishing trip.
This sexual predator is now behind bars and justice has been served in favor of the victims.
