In August 2024, the Texarkana Police Department shared a photo of a suspect involved in a series of thefts at Home Depot, totaling over $1,000. They sought public assistance in identifying the individual.
A Magnolia, Arkansas police officer recognized the suspect as 37-year-old Matthew Brink of Hot Springs, AR, from a similar theft case in Magnolia. The officer relayed this information to Detective Jennifer Billingsley, who confirmed that Brink was indeed the suspect in the Texarkana thefts.
Detective Billingsley secured warrants for Brink's arrest and began efforts to locate him. Brink was apprehended on Tuesday evening when he returned to Home Depot. The store manager, familiar with Brink from previous thefts, contacted 911. Officer Cole Bredenberg arrived at the scene and arrested Brink as he attempted to leave in his truck.
During the arrest, officers discovered THC wax in Brink’s truck and oxycodone pills hidden in a cut in his pants. Brink was booked into the Bi-State Jail on two counts of Possession of Controlled Substance and three counts of Theft of Property. His bond was set at $23,500. He remains in jail as of this report.
