On September 1, 2024, the Freestone County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) Dispatch received a report of a stolen mini excavator from Spring, Texas. The GPS tracking device indicated the excavator was in Freestone County, specifically in the area of County Road 481. Deputy Hill was dispatched to the location and successfully located the stolen excavator in a wooded area.
While awaiting a wrecker to transport the equipment, the suspects returned to the scene. Observing Deputy Hill, they attempted to flee but ended up discarding narcotics from their vehicle. Deputies intercepted the vehicle, recovering some of the discarded narcotics and arresting the two individuals.
The suspects were charged with:
- Theft of Property (Third-Degree Felony)
- Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity (Second-Degree Felony)
- Tampering with Evidence (Third-Degree Felony)
- Possession of a Controlled Substance PG 3 (less than 28 grams) - Class A Misdemeanor
