Hunt Memorial Hospital District Proposes Tax Rate Increase for 2024

Hunt Memorial Hospital District has proposed a tax rate of $0.200362 per $100 valuation for the 2024 tax year. This proposed rate is higher than the no-new-revenue tax rate of $0.188698 per $100, which would raise the same amount of revenue from the same properties as in 2023. However, it does not exceed the voter-approval tax rate, meaning no election is required to adopt it.

A public hearing regarding the proposed tax rate will be held on September 17, 2024, at 5:00 PM at Hunt Regional Medical Center, located on the sixth floor of the boardroom at 4215 Joe Ramsey Boulevard, E., Greenville, Texas. During the hearing, members of the public can express their support or opposition to the proposed rate.

Tax Rate Comparison:

  • Proposed Tax Rate: $0.200362 per $100
  • No-New-Revenue Tax Rate: $0.188698 per $100
  • Voter-Approval Tax Rate: $0.200362 per $100

The proposed rate represents an increase in property taxes for the district, resulting in a 1.30% rise from the previous year's tax rate. The average homestead taxable value has increased by 10.78%, leading to an estimated tax of $488.62 for the average homestead, up from $435.42 in 2023.

Board of Directors Support:

  • For the proposal: Deborah Clack, Jefferson Helston, Leslie Killgore, John C. Nelson, Jr., Wesley Oswald, Dr. Scott Pierce, Michael Taylor, Julia Wensel
  • Absent: Janet Peek
