Sulphur Springs ISD Statement:

Dear Wildcat Families,

At approximately 9:00 pm last night, Sulphur Springs ISD staff were made aware of another post containing threats. The staff member immediately notified Chief Pat Leber. Chief Leber, in conjunction with the Hopkins County Sheriff's Department, began an investigation. The suspect was identified and detained within the hour. The 17 year old female suspect, who attends SSHS, was booked into the Hopkins County jail and faces felony charges of making a terroristic threat.

Parents, we need your help.

We would ask that you speak with your children tonight. Explain to them the severity and consequences of this behavior. We cannot afford to treat this type of situation as "a kid making a poor choice". In my last communication on Friday, I shared with you that we would have zero tolerance for this type of behavior. This applies when it is one of our own, as well.

We will have zero tolerance for those who disrupt the learning process by attempting to spread fear and panic. These types of threats, whether credible or not, will be met with severe consequences every single time. Anyone participating in this type of behavior can expect swift and immediate action.

This investigation is ongoing, and we will keep you informed as more information becomes available. We are grateful for the dedication of SSISD staff, SSISD Police Department, Hopkins County Sheriff's Department, and Sulphur Springs Police Department in ensuring the safety of our students. We take your trust seriously and remain committed to a safe learning environment for all.

If you see or hear anything concerning, please report it to SSISD or law enforcement immediately.

Deana Steeber, Ed.D.
Superintendent
