On Saturday, September 14, 2024, Paris Police Officers responded to a report of a shot fired in the 800 block of DeShong Drive. Officers encountered Adrian Jose Loftin, 17, who was evading Lamar County Deputies attempting to detain him. Loftin was apprehended while attempting to scale a fence into the Park Gardens North Apartment Complex.
Loftin informed officers that he had dropped a handgun during his flight. The firearm was recovered in a parking lot near the area of his arrest. Loftin was charged with Evading Arrest on Foot and Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon.
