On September 11, 2024, at approximately 1:30 p.m., Rockwall Police Department School Resource Officers at Rockwall High School assisted school staff with an active disturbance involving a student. During the investigation, the student resisted detention, prompting the officer to intervene. The student sustained an injury as a result of the incident.
Following the event, the Rockwall Police Department received a complaint alleging the use of excessive force during the encounter. Although there is no legal obligation, the Rockwall Police Department, in the interest of transparency, has requested the Texas Rangers Division of the Texas Department of Public Safety to conduct an investigation into the matter.
