Pursuit of Stolen Vehicle Ends in Crash and Arrest in Harrison County

Terry Lee Hutton Jr.

On September 8, 2024, an Investigator alerted Harrison County Deputies about a stolen vehicle originating from Frisco, TX. Frisco Police tracked the vehicle as it entered Harrison County on Interstate Highway 20 (IH-20) heading east. Deputies and a Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Trooper confirmed the vehicle was stolen and initiated a pursuit from approximately the 614-mile marker to the 635-mile marker.

The vehicle crashed in an open field after hitting a ravine and subsequently caught fire. The driver, 36-year-old Terry Lee Hutton Jr. from West Des Moines, Iowa, fled on foot, crossing both directions of IH-20. He was apprehended by a Deputy in the North Service Road ditch in front of the Dairy Queen restaurant.

Hutton was found to have multiple warrants, including three felonies from Iowa, one from Nebraska, two felonies from Kansas, and one protective order from Missouri. After being treated and cleared at the hospital, Hutton was transported to the main jail and booked. No injuries were reported in this incident.
