On August 23, 2024, Polk County Sheriff’s Office Detectives met with Chief Dunaway of the Onalaska Police Department, regarding a teacher/student relationship investigation later determined to be a male teacher employed at Hardin ISD and a female student enrolled in a Polk County School District.
Detective Lieutenant Craig Finegan of the Polk County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division obtained the investigation leading to interviews being conducted with the female student and adult male teacher. After a thorough criminal investigation, it was determined that the female student allowed him to pick her up and go to a location in Polk County, where he performed sexual acts to her in the back of his vehicle before returning her to her home.
The Hardin ISD website still shows Thomas as the head coach for the basketball team.
Based on the investigation, an arrest warrant for Improper Relationship between Educator/Student (F2), was obtained from Justice of the Peace Precinct 1 Judge Teri Mayer, for the arrest of 39-year old Jahmall Le’Sean Thomas, of Dayton, TX.
On September 3, 2024, Jahmall Thomas, was arrested and booked into the Polk County Jail, on a $75,000.00 bond. Hardin ISD was notified of the arrest with Mr. Thomas being placed on Administration leave at this time.
