Smith faces multiple charges, including Enticing a Child, Harboring a Runaway, two counts of Grooming, Tampering with a Witness, and six counts of Purchasing Alcohol for a Minor. The charges span from misdemeanors to third-degree felonies, with a total bond amount set at $1,475,000.
The arrest followed an incident on Thursday, July 25, 2024, when Bullard Officers, assisting the Smith County Sheriff's Office, responded to a location in Bullard to locate a juvenile reported as a runaway. At the scene, officers discovered several juveniles, including the runaway, who did not reside at the location. The officers contacted the juveniles' parents and released them from the scene.
Further investigation revealed evidence of criminal offenses related to the runaway case. Detectives gathered sufficient information to secure arrest affidavits and warrants for Smith. The affidavits and warrants were reviewed and signed by the Honorable Smith County District Judge Austin Reeve Jackson of the 114th District Court.
Smith was taken into custody on August 28, 2024, and transported to the Smith County Jail facility.
