On Saturday evening at 6:35 p.m., Paris police were dispatched to a report of a felony burglary of habitation in the 100 block of SW 7th Street. The victim, who was overseeing a neighboring apartment, reported hearing a noise and went to investigate. Upon opening his back door, he encountered a 15–16-year-old black male armed with a handgun.
The victim physically confronted the suspect, who then claimed that the firearm was not loaded and pleaded to be let go. The suspect dropped the gun, and the victim managed to push him out of the door. The suspect fled the scene, and the gun, which had not been reported stolen, was collected by police and placed into evidence. The investigation is ongoing.
