MVPA-HA 2024 Convoy to Pass Through Greenville on October 20

The MVPA-HA Convoy Command has announced that its next transcontinental convoy will take place from October 1 to October 31, 2024. The convoy will pass through Greenville on October 20. The event will retrace the historic 1918 Jefferson Highway route, spanning over 2,500 miles from the Minnesota border to New Orleans, Louisiana, over a period of 30 days.

Between 3:30 and 5 PM on October 20, attendees in Greenville will have the opportunity to view antique military vehicles and learn about their history.

This will be the eighth MVPA-HA Convoy and the first to travel on a north-south axis through the central United States. The convoy aims to offer a relaxed pace with daily mileage that allows for interesting stops along the route. The event will mark the 15th anniversary of the program, which was established at the Little Rock MVPA Convention in 2006.

The Jefferson Highway 2024 (JH’24) convoy will highlight American history through multiple historic sites, including the headwaters of the Mississippi River, parts of the Red River Trail, the Pony Express Museum, Old Fort Leavenworth, the National WWI Museum and Memorial in Kansas City, the old Army Road, the Louisiana “Patton” maneuvers area, Fort Polk, and the National WWII Museum in New Orleans. Additional stops will feature lesser-known historical sites such as the original Jefferson Highway locations, the Border War between Kansas and Missouri, the John Brown Museum and cabin, and sites of Civil War battles and skirmishes.
