On August 29, 2024, at 4:33 p.m., Cumby Police Officers responded to a report of reckless driving and racing involving a motorcycle and 2-3 other vehicles. The motorcycle's speed was clocked at 106 MPH in a 75 MPH zone.
The officer initiated a traffic stop, but the motorcyclist accelerated to over 135 MPH, weaving through traffic and passing on the shoulder in an attempt to evade capture. The driver took multiple exits, nearly crashing at the 122 entrance ramp to IH30, and eventually abandoned the motorcycle at the 123 MM exit.
The suspect fled on foot but was apprehended by officers approximately 100 yards from the scene. The individual was arrested and transported to Hopkins County Jail without further incident.
28-year-old Zataviane Quamaine Goodson-Lindley faces charges of evading arrest and two counts of reckless driving, with a total bond set at $450,000.
