On August 28, 2024, officers from the Prosper Police Department (PPD) were investigating the theft of a vehicle from a local business. After completing the initial investigation, PPD officers, using the FLOCK camera system, identified the stolen vehicle traveling eastbound on U.S. Highway 380 in a neighboring city.
PPD officers began monitoring traffic on U.S. Highway 380 and observed the stolen vehicle near Legacy Drive. A traffic stop was attempted, but the driver failed to yield, leading to a brief vehicle pursuit. The driver eventually stopped and was taken into custody without further incident.
The driver admitted to being a felon and having a handgun in the vehicle. He was arrested for unauthorized use of a vehicle, evading arrest or detention with a vehicle, and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. The stolen vehicle was recovered and returned to the business.
