Suspect and Officer Shot After Assault Incident in Princeton

On August 29, 2024, at approximately 3:02 a.m., Princeton Police officers responded to a report of an assault at E. Princeton Drive. By 3:04 a.m., an officer had located the suspect near Dahlia Way and Princeton Crossroads. Upon contact, the suspect attacked the officer with a weapon, resulting in both the suspect and the officer sustaining gunshot wounds. Both individuals are currently in stable condition at area hospitals.

The suspect now faces pending charges of Aggravated Assault against a public servant. The Texas Rangers are leading the investigation into this incident.

The Princeton Police Department expressed gratitude to the Princeton Fire Department, AMR, Farmersville Police Department, Josephine Police Department, and Collin County Sheriff's Office for their assistance during this event. The investigation is ongoing.
