Around 8:18 p.m. on August 27, 2024, Nacogdoches Police Department officers responded to a major two-vehicle accident in the 2300 block of Douglass Rd. A black 2000 Freightliner, pulling a flatbed trailer, was traveling eastbound when it attempted a U-turn, failing to yield to westbound traffic. The Freightliner was struck by a 1999 Chevy pickup traveling westbound. The pickup driver sustained serious injuries and was transported by EMS. The Freightliner driver was not injured. The Traffic Division conducted an accident reconstruction, and the roadway, which was closed for several hours, has since reopened. The pickup driver remains in critical condition.
