On August 20, 2024, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division responded to a burglary of a vehicle call in the Forest Hills Subdivision. During the investigation, it was discovered that a credit card from the vehicle was used at several locations in Polk County and Onalaska.
A second call came from the Four Corners subdivision, where a wallet containing an AirTag was stolen from a vehicle. The AirTag provided the location of the stolen wallet, leading authorities to the suspect vehicle.
With the assistance of the Onalaska Police Department, probable cause was established, and a traffic stop was conducted. The vehicle occupants were identified as Ryan Barnes, 27, of Livingston, and his father Kevin Barnes, 49, of Onalaska. A third individual, Raelynn Tina Hebert, was also in the vehicle.
Inside the vehicle, authorities found credit cards, the stolen wallet with the AirTag, and methamphetamine. All three individuals were arrested without incident.
