On Wednesday, August 21, 2024, the Gregg County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office to check a location on Estesville Road in Longview for a 2002 silver Mustang reported stolen. Deputies arrived and contacted the property owner, who said the Mustang and a motorcycle belonged to his renters, Dustin David Dorgan, 47, of Gilmer, and Ashley Layne Weeks, 37, of Kilgore.
Dustin Dorgan explained that the Mustang had been brought to his residence by a friend who needed to hide it from a repossession company. While deputies were speaking with Dustin, they checked the VIN of the motorcycle parked next to the stolen Mustang. HCSO dispatch confirmed the motorcycle was stolen from Parker County, Texas. Dustin claimed the motorcycle was also up for repossession but could not provide information about its owner or origin.
Dustin Dorgan was arrested for Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle, with bond set at $7,500. Ashley Weeks was arrested on a warrant for Theft of Property (Failure to Appear) out of Harris County, with a bond of $1,000.
