Tyler Police Officers have taken into custody a suspect accused of severely injuring a man at a residence in the Woodbridge subdivision on Wednesday, August 21. The injured man was found at the intersection of Broadway and Elm in Tyler. Detectives are seeking a search warrant for the home where the victim resides and where the assault occurred.
The search for the suspect began after the injured man, covered in blood, entered the lobby of the south police station and requested assistance. He reported that he had been attacked by a relative at his home. The nature of his injuries has not been disclosed, but he has been transported to a hospital.
Police responded to the 900 block of Derrick Court in the Woodbridge subdivision and used intercoms to call out to the suspect, urging him to come out of the house. Tyler Police PIO Andy Erbaugh confirmed that the suspect is known and is armed.
Due to the suspect being armed, residents of the subdivision are advised to stay indoors with their doors locked or, if they are en route, to avoid the area for their safety.
