Joseph Adrian Garcia, 44, has been sentenced to 50 years in the Texas Penitentiary for Burglary of a Habitation with Intent to Commit Murder, following a three-day jury trial.
On August 15th, the jury found Garcia guilty of the charge. According to the Kaufman County Criminal District Attorney’s Office, Garcia was observed by a neighbor attempting to break into a residence with a pickaxe. The neighbor alerted the police, who arrived on the scene and found Garcia under the influence of suspected narcotics. Garcia had been threatening to kill individuals at the residence, including the home's matriarch and her two children, aged 6 and 8.
The prosecution team included Assistant District Attorneys Alysia Huskey, Leslie Odom, Taylor McConnell, Investigator Walter Hughey, and Paralegal Reyne Huerta. The Kaufman Police Department conducted the investigation into the case.
