Lamar County Precinct 4 Constable Hunter Sanders pleaded guilty on Wednesday in Sixth District Court to felony Terroristic Threat Against a Judge. The plea follows Sanders' arrest on August 1, stemming from a threatening phone call he made to Justice of the Peace Jimmy Steed the previous night. During the call, Sanders threatened to stab Steed in the neck and then kill himself.

Sanders was sentenced to five years of deferred adjudication probation and will undergo drug and alcohol treatment in a Texas Department of Criminal Justice facility. Additionally, he has resigned from his position and will permanently forfeit his peace officer's license.
