A federal grand jury has indicted five men in connection with the fentanyl death of Brayden Wooten, a 21-year-old from Sulphur Springs, Texas, who was found dead in his home on December 23, 2023, from a fentanyl overdose.
The indictment, handed down on Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, names Marques DShawn Hood, 24, of Commerce; Kennedy Kirby, 30, of Garland; Xavier Hill, 24, of Sulphur Springs; Tyler Bromley, 27, of Rockwall; and Bryson Lacy, 22, of Sulphur Springs. The five men face a charge related to trafficking and possession with intent to distribute a significant amount of fentanyl, which resulted in Wooten’s death.
Kirby and Hood face additional charges for possessing firearms during a drug trafficking crime. The suspects face penalties including 20 years to life in federal prison, a fine of up to $10 million, and five years of supervised release for the drug trafficking charge. Kirby and Hood also face up to five years in federal prison and a fine of up to $250,000 for the firearm charges.
