On August 20, 2024, Patrol Shift “A” of the Rusk County Sheriff’s Office conducted a follow-up investigation into an oilfield theft reported earlier. The investigation led deputies to Rusk County Road 476, where they located and recovered the stolen oilfield equipment. Further investigation by Patrol Shift A and the Rusk County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division led to the issuance and execution of an evidentiary search warrant at the residence of Skkylar Sanchez, located on Rusk County Road 476. During the search, deputies seized suspected methamphetamine, suspected marijuana, and firearms.
Skkylar Jose Sanchez, 38, of Henderson, and Hector Joel Arellano, 45, of Henderson, were arrested. Both were charged with Tampering with Gas and Oil Operations, a third-degree felony. Sanchez faces additional charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 1 (methamphetamine), Possession of Marijuana, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. Sanchez's bond was set at $49,500.00, while Arellano’s bond was set at $25,000.00. Bonds were set by Justice of the Peace Pct #5 Jana Enloe. The search warrant was issued by Rusk County Court at Law Judge Chad Dean. The recovered stolen property is estimated to be worth $5,000.00. The investigation is ongoing, with the possibility of additional arrests.
