On August 18, 2024, a traffic stop was conducted by the Rusk County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Shift “D” near the intersection of Loop 571 and US Hwy 259 in Rusk County. During the stop, deputies conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle, leading to the discovery of suspected methamphetamine.
The operator of the vehicle, identified as 25-year-old Courtney Lynn Cummings of Henderson, Texas, was arrested at the scene. Cummings was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 1, specifically for an amount greater than one gram but less than four grams, a third-degree felony.
Cummings was subsequently booked into the Rusk County Jail, with bonds set at $12,500 by Rusk County Justice of the Peace Pct #5, Jana Enloe.
