On Saturday night, August 17th, deputies from the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to assist Waskom PD in a pursuit involving a white Dodge Charger. The vehicle matched the description of a BOLO issued by Louisiana, where the Louisiana State Police had pursued it earlier that day. Deputies, along with the Texas Highway Patrol, joined the chase, which continued into Marshall. During the pursuit, the vehicle began losing parts of a tire.
The chase continued through Longview and into White Oak, where it ended when the vehicle crashed into a White Oak Oil Change property. The driver, identified as 28-year-old Saleful Sangaray, exited the vehicle and fled on foot. After a brief foot pursuit, Sangaray was apprehended and taken into custody.
A search of Sangaray revealed a small amount of marijuana, while a search of the Dodge Charger uncovered a stolen Glock pistol, an AK-47 rifle, and Oxycodone. Sangaray was transported to the Harrison County Jail, where he was charged with Evading Arrest with a Vehicle, Evading Detention and Arrest, Theft of a Firearm, Unlawfully Carrying a Weapon, Possession of a Controlled Substance PG 1-1B over 1 gram but less than 4, and Possession of Marijuana. He is currently awaiting arraignment.
