After Altercation Freestone County Man Shot Multiple Times at Home

In the early hours of Saturday, August 10th, just before 1:00 a.m., the Freestone County Sheriff's Office (FCSO) Dispatch received a report of a shooting in the Streetman area. The incident resulted in injuries to a male victim. FCSO Deputies Aultman and Leatherman responded to the scene, with Patrol Sgt. Darby and CID Sgt. Weinmann also assisting in the investigation.

Upon arrival, deputies located the male victim, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The scene was secured, and the victim was airlifted to a trauma hospital for treatment.

During the initial investigation, a male suspect was identified and found nearby. The suspect was arrested and charged with Attempted Murder. A search warrant was obtained for the suspect's residence, where the weapon believed to have been used in the attack was discovered.

The investigation revealed that a physical altercation had occurred prior to the shooting. The suspect reportedly charged at the victim on the victim's property, leading to a physical confrontation. After the altercation, the victim contacted 911 and returned inside his residence. The suspect then knocked on the victim's door and opened fire when the victim answered.

Further investigation revealed that the suspect, a convicted felon, was in possession of several military-style ballistic vests. As a result, the suspect was charged with one count of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon (F3) and three counts of Unlawful Possession of Body Armor by a Felon (F3).

The victim has undergone one surgery and is reported to be in stable condition as of this evening. The suspect received medical attention for injuries sustained during the prior altercation and is currently being held on a $600,000 bond for Attempted Murder. The other four charges do not yet have bonds set.
