Paris Police Department Report for Thursday, August 8, 2024

  • Evading Arrest: An officer attempted to stop a vehicle in the 2300 block of Bonham Street for an expired registration. The driver, Kacey Dean Langston, refused to pull over and continued west on Bonham Street to the 3400 block, where he stopped at a residence. Langston admitted he was aware of the officer's attempt to stop him. He was arrested for Evading Arrest in a Vehicle, a felony, and booked without incident.

  • Credit Card Abuse: Officers received a report of a stolen debit card being used at a local business. The investigating officer reviewed store video footage and obtained a description of the suspect and suspect vehicle. On August 8, 2024, at approximately 03:20, the officer located the suspect vehicle at a local motel and identified the driver as Eric Steven Lomelin. Lomelin admitted to using the credit card without the owner's consent. The stolen items were recovered from Lomelin's possession. He was arrested for Credit Card Abuse of an Elderly Individual, a felony, and processed without incident.

  • Public Intoxication and Controlled Substance Possession: Officers responded to a report of a subject in crisis in the 3800 block of Lamar. The individual, identified as Jeremiah John Rater, was reportedly out in traffic and acting peculiarly. Rater appeared under the influence of a substance and was arrested for Public Intoxication. A search revealed controlled substances in his clothing. Rater was additionally charged with possession of a controlled substance X 2 and transported to the county jail.

  • Possession of a Controlled Substance: Officers stopped a vehicle in the 400 block of SE 17th for an equipment violation. A consensual search of passenger Eddie Dean Roberts revealed methamphetamine in a plastic baggie concealed in his clothing. Roberts was charged with possession of a controlled substance and taken to county jail.

  • Fraud Investigation: The department was notified of a fraud incident occurring in the 10 block of NW 27th. The victim had paid a down payment for a house to a known suspect, who did not have authorization to sell the property. The investigation is ongoing.
